Enterprise Mentors in the Classroom, Good Integration of Science and Education - Special Lecture on 'Secondary Radar for Air Traffic Control

Release time:2023-05-04 clicks:

To help students further strengthen their knowledge in the field of radar and expand their understanding of domestic radar applications, and to enhance their interest in radar technology, at the invitation of Professor Zhou Hongping, researcher Shuiquan from Sichuang Electronics Co., Ltd. conducted a special lecture on "Composition and Basic Principles of Secondary Radar Systems in Air Traffic Control" at 10:20 am on April 28th in Room 102, Building 11, Feicuihu Campus of our university. The lecture was hosted by Professor Zhou Hongping and attended by more than 50 faculty members and students.

Researcher Shui Quan first introduced the development history of air traffic control radar, vividly and interestingly introducing the development process of air traffic control radar at home and abroad, as well as the differences between air traffic control radar and traditional radar. Secondary radar is a very important surveillance device in the field of air traffic control, which plays an important role in ensuring flight safety, air traffic order, and improving operational efficiency. Secondly, Researcher Shui Quan introduced the principles, system composition, and application scenarios of secondary radar to the students through specific examples. Then, based on years of scientific research experience, Researcher Shui Quan elaborated on the application of secondary radar in the civil aviation field. Since the equations of secondary radar were derived during the course teaching, this report conducted a deep analysis of the application of secondary radar, expanding the students' horizons. The specific content includes how secondary radar works in the civil aviation field, how it interacts with aircraft, what the antenna pattern of the radar is like, and the future development trends of secondary radar. Towards the end of the report, Researcher Shui Quan, from the perspective of a long-time scientific researcher, had in-depth exchanges with the students and shared his work experience, urging the students to cherish the precious time of learning. The students all felt greatly benefited.

Through this lecture, students' understanding of domestic radar application fields has been further strengthened, and their interest and enthusiasm for radar-related work have been effectively improved. The on-site teachers and students highly praised this lecture. The integration of enterprise mentors into the classroom complements theoretical teaching. The integration of science and education makes up for the shortcomings of classroom teaching and presents better teaching results.
