On June 15, the degree awarding ceremony for the 2023 graduates of the School of Computer and Information (School of Artificial Intelligence) was held in the lecture hall on the second floor of the Science and Education Building at the Feicui Lake Campus. Chen Gang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hefei University of Technology, the leadership team of the college, members of the college degree evaluation committee, teacher representatives, and the 2023 doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degree recipients attended the degree awarding ceremony. The degree awarding ceremony began with the majestic national anthem. Professor Wang Meng, chairman of the Degree Sub-Committee and dean of the School of Computer and Information (School of Artificial Intelligence), read out the "Decision on Awarding Degrees to the Graduates of the Class of 2023 of the School of Computer and Information (School of Artificial Intelligence)". Xue Ping and 11 others were awarded the Doctor of Engineering degree, Zhou Zhiyuan and 280 others were awarded the Master of Engineering degree, and Zhao Haobing and 504 others were awarded the Bachelor of Engineering degree. The leaders and teachers present at the meeting presented degree certificates to all degree recipients and adjusted their tassels.

Vice Secretary Chen Gang, on behalf of the university, warmly congratulated all the students who successfully completed their studies and obtained their degrees, and expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers, parents, and friends who have diligently nurtured them. In his speech, he pointed out that guided by Xi Jinping’s ideology of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, the university has closely focused on the overall goal of cultivating talent who are morally upright, excellent in capabilities, and dedicated to serving the country. The university has implemented an integrated system of education and teaching that emphasizes moral education, capacity-oriented development, and innovation and entrepreneurship. The distinctive features of talent cultivation, characterized by solid engineering foundations, practical work style, and strong entrepreneurial ability, have become increasingly prominent. The title of “a leading talent” has become a resounding brand for the university’s innovation in talent cultivation.

In his heartfelt message to the graduates, Chen Gang expressed three hopes for all the graduates. First, he hoped that they would take truth as their guiding principle and remain steadfast in their ideals and beliefs. He urged them to continue the spirit of serving the country through industry that has been passed down by the university and to actively contribute their efforts to the construction of a socialist modernized country, especially the development of an industrial powerhouse, by aligning their personal “small goals” with the grand blueprint of the Party and the state. Second, he encouraged them to uphold seeking truth as their foundation and cultivate excellent skills through overcoming challenges and relentless efforts. As students of the university, he urged them to continue studying diligently, enhance their abilities, shine in solving key technical problems and overcoming common technical difficulties, and actively respond to the questions of the times and of China. Third, he advised them to maintain an optimistic attitude and ensure their physical and mental well-being in the face of adversity and challenges. He encouraged them to cultivate moral character, exercise self-restraint in speech and action, and continue building their willpower, self-control, and resilience, while maintaining a calm and optimistic mindset. He also advised them to broaden their horizons, not be swayed by temporary issues, not fear risks, and bravely face challenges. Finally, he wished the graduates smooth sailing, bright futures, and the realization of their dreams.

Professor Zhang Zhao, a representative of the teachers, reminded everyone to set goals and be a useful person to society; to be practical and be a person with a sense of career and responsibility; to temper oneself and be a person with outstanding abilities and physical and mental health; to always have a heart of gratitude, often for acts of gratitude, and be a person who knows how to give back to society.

Graduate representative Yu Chenhui reviewed his experience of studying at the University of Science and Technology, and shared his youthful story of bravely pursuing dreams under the influence of the school motto "Virtue, Diligence, Truth-seeking, Innovation" and benefiting from the second classroom transcript system.
