Title of the Report: Application of Photogrammetry and Laser Scanning Technology in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Urban Digitization

Report Introduction:

 

Establishing a realistic model of the real world in the digital world is an important task, and laser scanning and photogrammetry are the two most commonly used methods for 3D reconstruction. In this report, we will focus on the digitization of real-world objects, such as cultural heritage sites and geographical scenes, and introduce the integrated 3D reconstruction technology that combines laser scanning and photogrammetry, as well as the automatic 3D modeling technology based on photogrammetry. We will also discuss the technical challenges of large-scale high-precision 3D reconstruction, semantic-aware scene reconstruction, automatic scheduling processing hardware and software systems, 3D visualization technology and applications, as well as the technical challenges and solutions of large-scale 3D reconstruction at the urban level. Finally, we will present application cases of 3D reconstruction in different industries.

 

Speaker Introduction:

 

Founder and CEO of Dashi Intelligence, Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping, and Remote Sensing, Wuhan University. Deputy Director of the Aerial Photogrammetry Research Laboratory and Deputy Director of the Cultural Heritage Intelligent Computing Laboratory at Wuhan University. He has been engaged in research on computer graphics and image, surveying and remote sensing technology in real-world 3D reconstruction and cultural heritage protection for a long time, and has rich experience in fields such as massive spatial data management, computer vision, computer graphics technology, information mining, and machine learning. The technologies he has developed have been applied to high-quality 3D digitization of cultural relics and automated 3D modeling of large-scale urban scenes, and have been used in the digital protection of cultural relics in dozens of important cultural heritage protection units in China, including the Dunhuang Research Institute, the Yungang Research Institute, and the National Museum, as well as in high-precision 3D reconstruction, public safety, emergency scenarios, and urban planning in hundreds of cities nationwide, such as Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, and Lanzhou.
