At 8 pm on June 8, in the D502 live broadcast hall of the Emerald Science and Education Building, 147 students from the 2021 class of our college's Electronic Information Engineering major participated in a 5G live broadcast "cognitive internship" teaching activity. The internship object is the globally renowned research institution "Bell Labs".

[Bell Labs is famous in the field of information science, has produced 15 Nobel Prize scientists, and has given birth to a large number of major inventions that have changed human life, and is known as the "cradle of modern technology".]

At Bell Labs, Dr. Huang, a foreign student, used 5G live broadcast equipment to introduce the visiting area of the laboratory, explained the development history of Bell Labs, the deeds of top scientists such as Bell, Shannon, and Zhu Diwen, and a batch of epoch-making inventions and creations (transistors, lasers, solar cells, light-emitting diodes, digital switches, communication satellites, electronic digital computers, C language, UNIX operating system, etc.). Dr. Huang also showed the Nobel Prize certificate, the manuscripts of scientists, and precious images of many major scientific events through the camera.

On the school side, five teachers from the college organized the students in the live broadcast hall to watch the introduction throughout. The students felt the development context of information and communication technology, outstanding achievements, and the culture and charm of Bell Labs up close. In the interactive session, Dr. Huang gave valuable advice on how college students can devote themselves to scientific research work from the perspective of ability reserve.

The 5G live cognitive internship, with its advantages of high bandwidth, high speed, and low latency, allows students to "immerse" in the technology and achievements of enterprises and research institutions on campus. It not only ensures the implementation of cognitive internship teaching work under special circumstances such as the epidemic, but also greatly expands the range of internship objects. It can conveniently realize cognitive internships for well-known enterprises/research institutions outside the province, and even "foreign" countries, becoming an important supplement to traditional internship methods.
